Anyone find any good weapons or armor yet?

someone correct me if im wrong but as im aware its not like morrowind where you can go get a daedric dai-katana and own everthing at lvl 1 but insted the wepons unless they are already lvled will level with you as your skills grow. this would explain why you have not found any uber items yet

Well, I just got most of a suit of Dwarven (minus the helmet), plus dwarven shield, 2H axe, dagger, shortword, mace, bow and longsword out of one quest. Hard quest at level 8, though.

There's a quest in Chorral where an old man wants you to help his sons fight off some monsters at their farm.  If you do this, you get a nice one-handed enchanted blade.

Finish up the arena, and you'll get quite a nice piece of armor. It's been quite useful for me.

Agreed, the blade from the protecting the farm quest is pretty okay in my book, but my lucky find for a 12dmg (at level 1 when I got it) Daedric Claymore is my primary weapon.

To get a full set of Ebony armor and a really nice enchanted sword called Umbra you kill Umbra. She is south-west of the imperial city near the old bridge in some Alyeid Ruins. She is hard to kill so put your difficulty to the lowest and prepare for a hard fight.

Okay I just pilled up the CS and yes Umbra DOES exist. SHE is a lvl 50 Wood Elf Warrior. However I could not find a start location.

Umbra is definitely in the game, but I have not suceeded in finding her yet.  I'm sure some hunting on the IGN Boards would help a bit.

Well, according to a guy on IGN's boards:
"Put your map cursor on the Imperial Waterfront icon. Move it down, across the river, until it touches the path. From there, move it left along the path until you see the point where the path branches off into two paths. The place is right there, at that fork. The place is called "Vindasel". Good luck."

hey everyone!

Found a very ncie enchanted bow (does +fire dmg on hit) in some elven ruins... name started with an L that's all I remember and got a rather nice 1h enchanted sword from doing the merchant quest in the Imperial city. That same quest also netted me an almost complete dwarven armor set + a dwarven long sword =)

ive got a nice blade called Ackivori (spelling) warblade, does good damage... also you have to buy Apothises from Rinders staff's in the marketplace it does 99 damage (33 frost, 33 fire, 33 shock.)

Sufferthorn is my favorite weapon so far, with Apotheosis running a close second. The Akaviri Warblade is perfect for taking down Umbra, by the way. No need to dial back the game difficulty.

The Champion's armor you get for completing the Arena is pretty good.

This game is a lot better than Morrowind in that you have to WORK to get the good stuff. No DD-K's right from the beginning.

I wonder how Umbra got from Vvarfendell >> Cyrodiil.
And how the Mace of Molag Bal got there. And Azura's Star. And Goldbrand. And the Ring of Khajiit. And the Masque of Clavicus Vile. And a couple other things.

If you read  some Daedric lore you'll find out that the Daedris artifacts are fickle when it comes to ownership and quite often end up "vanishing" from their current owner's possession right at the time(s) they need them the most, leading to their grim and bitter demise. ^^

I agree that Sufferthorn is quite the beastly weapon, I love it.

Sufferthorn is the dagger right? I think the one I took was called Thornblade or something like that. Don't remember the enchantment it had though. However as far as non enchanted weapons go I found an Elven Long Sword and an Elven Shield in one of the Ayleid ruins. When I figure out which one it was I will let you know. The elven armor set loooks sexy.

I am off to do that quest. I actually did hear a rumour about this old man and his sons inside the city, but the farm is just outside, right? That's where you get the quest?

Don't worry, the same thing happened to me when I did the quest and I didn't have a quicksave to go back to. Unless I wanted to redo like 3 other things

OK, this is off topic kinda, but Quicksave and Quickload is such a lifesaver.  Many thanks Bethesda.  If it want for that, I would be reading the same loading screen a jillion times.  Plus, thumbs up to making the loading times fiarly short(esp. compared to Morrowind.)

Any other cool weapons so far? A Flame Staff is avaivable if you do the Barius Manor quest in Anvil, but it's nothing I found useful (being no mage).....anyone who has found a good blade or shield, speak uP!

EDIT - I found a pretty good shield at Fort Ash. It's a Shield of Vindication - Bonus: Reflect 7% Damage on Self. Light armour. Pretty bad as defensive device, but the bonus seems to be quite good. I am Heavy Armour, so I sold it for 1200, but at a vendor with slightly higher gold ammount you may sell it for more - I didn't care. The same Fort I found a Dwarven Claymore. Not bad as weapon. I sold it for about 180 gold........

 I think the Umbra quest is best off starting with the Clavicus Vile shrine. See Deadric quests for more information.

   But you can find the shrine when heading west to Skingrad on the Gold Road. South of the beginning of the road, in the wilderness. Look at your compass. Many people can point you to this shrine if talking to them about Deadra, as well.

And for all these "Umbra" questions. Umbra is is found from the Clavicus Vile Daedric quest. It is leveled (as is her armor). Meaning the blade can be much much much more powerful (highest Base damage sword in the game) if you get it at level 20+. The armor however, is much better at lower levels.

If you want Artifacts though, just do the Daedric Shrine quests. Which most of the Artifacts (weapons at least) are not that good to begin with.

Now for some very interesting weapons (the rarest and hardest to find in the game) They are pretty much trophy weapons. Hatreds Heart and Hatreds soul can be found using this guide. http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=460983&hl=hatreds+soul

It depends on what level you are. At higher levels you'll come across bandits in caves with Daedric Armor, then at slightly higher levels than that you'll find them in stores.

I was going to suggest going into the Oblivion Gates once that part of the main quest has happened... but then I realized that the opponents are leveled and you never fight anything strong enough to wear armor until you're at a higher level. Most likely you can fight someone this strong inside a gate once you're at a higher level... but not as high a level as it takes to find the 2 conditions above. I'm not sure about exact levels, though.

Umbra is for a Shrine quest called clavicus vile. Now, normally you would need to activate the quest before killing Umbra, but there is a huge bug that causes freezing after you activate the quest, so the only way around it is to kill Umbra before activating the quest.

Now, Umbra is a level 50 high elf female. She is also very very tough.

Her ebony, at level 10 or lower, has the same stats as dwarven, level 11 or higher has same as ebony.
