Oblivion Screenshot Competition Rules
«
on:
March 08, 2007, 03:04:39 PM »
Welcome to the Contests & Competitions Board.
These are the rules for the
Oblivion Screenshot Competition
.
How it works:
At the start of each competition, the rules will be stated in the first post and any changes from the standard set of rules will be shown in bold for emphasis, along with the Theme and the Deadline. The Theme is a word, phrase, or description that each entry is based on and will set the basis for judging at the end of the competition. Each user can submit one (1) screenshot each. When the deadline is up, the topic will be locked. A new poll will be created soon after the competition ends so that voting can begin.
Rules:
Every entry must be the user's own work. (It cannot be downloaded from another website)
Unless otherwise stated, it must be a screenshot from "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion"
It can not be edited, color adjusted, or enhanced in any way (Especially, photo or graphics editing programs)
You can resize, crop, and scale as neccessary to get it to a reasonable screensize and filesize, as long as you're not attempting to enhance the image in the process, as that would violate the previous rule.
Resizing is
not
required and images of 1024x768 or larger are encouraged.
You
are
allowed to re-use a screenshot you previously posted on the boards, as long as it follows all other rules and has never been used in any other competition before. (especially this one, of course)
No off topic posting in the Competition topic. (Open discussion will be allowed in the "Screenshot Competition Discussion" topic)
No profanity, offensive language, or adult situations. (All forum rules still apply here.)
If you have any active mods in the scene (especially user-mods that affect the textures, clothing, or visual quality of the game), please list them in the text of your submission.
Include a text description of your general location in Cyrodiil (nearest city; name of the cave, fort, or Ayleid Ruin; or questline) and a brief description of why you feel your picture fits the current theme.
Competitions are posted regularly (usually once per month) so check in often. Good luck and have fun!

I added one rule for this week's contest. It is highlighted in the official rules post above. The new rule is:
You
are
allowed to re-use a screenshot you previously posted on the boards, as long as it follows all other rules and has never been used in any other competition before. (especially this one, of course)
If and/or when the rules are changed again, the new rule will be in bold and this one will not.

I changed the wording for this and all following contests to make a description of your entry manditory. Describe your general location
AND
tell us why your entry fits the theme.
"Include a text description of your general location in Cyrodiil (nearest city; name of the cave, fort, or Ayleid Ruin; or questline) and a brief description of why you feel your picture fits the current theme."
As rules are added or changed, they are made bold in the main rules post and all previous changes are no longer highlighted.

I have updated the standard set of rules to clarify that while resizing is allowed it is not required and large image sizes are encouraged. Images submitted in the competition are often used on the main website, especially the winners, so larger images are preferable. The forum generally resizes images automatically to keep them from breaking the format. If you upload your images directly to the forum (by clicking "Additional Options" while posting), clicking the thumbnail will open the image in a new window for any image wider than 640px or expand the image in-place if it is 640px wide or smaller.
Resizing is
not
required and images of 1024x768 or larger are encouraged.
As rules are added or changed, they are made bold in the main rules post and all previous changes are no longer highlighted.
