Screenshot Competition Discussion

Only 5 days left for OSC#8! Get out there and post something. Also, give me some more ideas of what to make the next contest about. The list isn't very long right now.


Here is the entry I deleted from OSC#8. It was a toss up between this one and the one I changed my mind and went with instead.



Next, is a version where I tweaked some settings in Photoshop. Using a photo editor to do anything beyond cropping and resizing is Illegal for OSC competitions, which is why I'm posting these here.



This last one is more heavily edited with 3 different areas tweaked (Levels and Curves - similar to Brightness & Contrast in some ways) in different directions. This way the stained glass stays colorful while the rest of the building can still get lighter.



Now, hopefully, you'll see why that particular rule is in place. Where do you draw the line on what edits can be made and what edits can't? I'd like to keep all entries as close to "natural" as possible. It gives a truer idea of how the screenshot was taken and the mood that was captured, rather than how good you are at Photoshop... someone else can start up a contest about that on, if they want.

You know, that would be a good idea. I might look into that if I have the time/feel like it. And you make a good point with these images.

There are a little over 5 days left in the competition and the entries have started rolling in. I'm really impressed by the terror displayed so far. It's going to be a tough vote this time around, I think. This is just a reminder that time is running short so you can get out there and get your entries in on time. This gives you all weekend to get something posted, unless you've got lots of parties, in which case, you even have early next week to do it.

I keep forgetting to submit an entry for Competition #10... so chances are you have too. We only have 2 days left to get them in. Hopefully, I can whip something up in time.

Hmm, I've thought that it would be interesting to use song titles as themes, so:

- Assassin
- Unintended
- Escape
- Dementia
- Hysteria

I think we should provide more generic themes for future contests, since I don't expect many entries... if any at all.

Elder Scrolls interest is obviously fading (not only on this forum, but everywhere); with no future Elder Scrolls games on the horizon, it's hard to say when it will rise again, so we'll have to live in a less busy environment.
