When you go to the start menu and go to options, then gameplay, you can tweak the difficulty of the game by moving the easy or hard slider. My question is, does it make a difference in the game wether you play on hard or easy? Do you fiind better equipment or potions on harder settings? Do you gain less experience on an easier setting? Does it affect your Xbox gamerscore? I am at a really hard part in oblivion right now where there are 2 Daedroths and 2 clannfear (sp?) and it is really f'ing frustrating because they all gang up on me and kill me before I can get even a few shots in. I want to make it easier but I don't want to miss out on some cool loot. can anyone help?

I've lowered my difficulty down by about a centimeter from the default and I have noticed that the stuff I find in the dungeons are a little more mundane then what they were before I lowered it. I haven't noticed that any of my skills are raising any slower though and I have noticed that enemies are *much* easier to kill.

The easy-hard slider affects fighting, nothing else.
ex ~ On (0) you could kill something with impunity that at (50) would eat your lunch. (and you.)

But there is no benefit to playing it on hard? Why would anyone put it all the way to hard then? I mean I don't want it to be TOO easy but some of these creatures are ridiculous. It seems it would be better to move the slider down a little from the middle if it won't affect the game in any other way. What do you guys think?

If they put the bar all the way up, they REALLY want a challenge. Some people won't move it down at all because they want the normal game experience. Even moving it down a little bit will make the game that much easier.

I started playing the game with the slider all the way up, and shortly after placed it back to default to see what the difference was. I now play with it just above the default setting, putting it all the way makes the game nearly impossible for a new character.

Oh yes it does, it is unimaginably hard almost from the get-go.
