Oblivion Gate Problem

Hi hope im doing this right as its my first post.
Just got the game so thought give it a try on my 7600gt card se what it looks like not bad cant wait to see what it looks like when i get a new card anywayto cut this as short as possible played game done everything as it should be done.
Got out of prison with amulet.
Went to the priory.
Then to Kavatch.
Spoke with Martin inside the church
Spoke to the capain said i would help to close the gate
Went through the gate and met up with other soldiers
Went to top of tower got the stone which closed the gate
Took martin back to the priory
Then went to the blades fort on top of that hill with martin and the priest
The priest made me a member of the blades.
I then decided to stop playing till i get my new 8800gt but no one seems to have them in stock.
So i decided to play again instead of loading a saved game i started a new game i did everything i did before till it came to go through the gate to get to the tower to get the stone.
Went through the gate just ended up outside the church went through the gate loads of times cannot get to the other side where the tower is to get the stone.
So i uninstalled the game made sure i removed all files loaded game up again still the same thing happend .
Any one HELP please.

Hmm. That sounds strange. I'm not sure how an Oblivion gate would take you anywhere other than to the planes of oblivion.

The only thing I can think of, and don't take offense here, is that maybe you just walked through the gate as opposed to activating it (press space bar on PC) like a door. I'm thinking it's possible that you accidentally pressed the space bar to get through the first time and never knew to activate it.

I'm not trying to insult you here, if this isn't the problem. I just can't think of anything else. It's a really strange bug otherwise.
