First, this is on the 360. I downloaded the horse armor pack from XBox live. Now I have armor on Shadowmere. It looks pretty cool and she can kill basically anything. She hasn't been knocked out yet.

Anyway, I went into Cursed Mine outside of Skingrad. Inside are your standard bandits and all that. But in a chest I found "Horse Armor Plans". The plans say "I'm a set of plans. Go to the Chesnut Handy stables." Chesnut Handy stables is where you get the armor for your horse. But when I went back with the plans, I got nothing new in conversation. Seems strange.

Anyone know what the deal is with these plans?

Never heard of it. But I may use the opportunity to ask about the price of the Horse Pack (in Microsoft points or $ or whatever)

It's 150 points. You can get 1600 points for $20.00 at EB Games or GameStop.

Is's out for the PC as well. There's a post for it in the general discussion section.

Turns out there is a Wiki for the elder scrolls that answers that...here are some of the glitches with horse armor...the big one is the last one

[edit] Glitches
Resurrecting horses works perfectly as long as you don?t want to get your Horse armored after that. The Dialog with Snak gra-Bura works fine at first but then a message pops up saying that "Your horse is too far away to be armored."

While it is indeed possible to apply armor to Shadowmere, once armored she is in danger of vanishing from the game world. In this scenario, she will not reappear at Fort Farragut (normally, if Shadowmere wanders off, one can find her at the Fort - but not if she's armored).
One easy way to remedy this problem is to observe Shadowmere after fast-traveling. Once you arrive, if you see Shadowmere walking off into the sunset, quickly get on the horse. Then dismount. Shadowmere will no longer be wandering off and will stay put.

When you install this mod, a set of Horse Armor Plans are added to a new chest that appears in Cursed Mine Lower Galleries. The plans are an incomplete book that does not have an inventory icon and contains only one line:
"I'm a set of plans. Go to the Chestnut Handy stables."
The plans do not do anything and are not referenced by any scripts. It seems like that these plans were part of an early idea about how to implement this mod, but the developers then forgot to remove them once they finalized the mod. For those on the PC who wish to remove this item via the console, its item ID is xx0016C6.
