You know, Valenwood and Elsweyr could be a great setting for TESV, the war between them could stir up again and the main quest would be to restore the peace. That could even open up an option for a fork in the main quest, where you'd have to take sides for a while. Varied terrain as well, desert/forest. Smiley

True.....................*thinks whilst scratching an imaginary goatee*
Yeah that would be pretty Awesome. I would like to see a bit of Hammerfell in there aswell. Just maybe like a few Elsweyr and Valenwood refugee camps like they have in Kvatch. I love the idea of Valenwood-pretty much coz i wanna see the moving tree city.
They should also make more side quests or  more exciting ones anyway-not ones where you have to gather 100 nirnroots- Great idea metamay!
Man I wish Bethesda executives read this Forum!

Well, to be honest, only thing I'd want is it to be designed by Ken Rolston. I read somewhere that he quit Bethesda after Oblivion, then re-joined Bethesda again to work on future projects... don't know if the latter is true, cause Wikipedia insists that he's working for Big Huge Games. In any case, Rolston was the lead designer for Morrowind, and, according to his interviews, considers this game to be superior to Oblivion (he did participate in TES IV design, but to a less extent). His opinion is fairly similar to my views.

No hope that Bethesda reps read this forum Smiley As a leader of a large non-TES modding project with a busy forum, I can tell you that no devs can review random forum posts (even on official forums), unless they are provided with some well-organized cumulative feedback.

Now, moving on to provinces. Cyrodiil site has a fairly large collection of pre-Oblivion maps for The Elder Scrolls universe (hopefully I'll find more Oblivion maps to update it someday):
http://cyrodiil.net/html/maps.html
Even from those maps, you can see that Bethesda changes their world rather freely for the sake of game design. If I remember correctly, Morrowind in-game territory was larger than whole Cyrodiil in Oblivion. Maps show that Morrowind is many times smaller. Another example is a Morrowind reference to the fact that Cyrodiil is covered with thick jungle, which is far from what we see in Oblivion. So, if they'll choose a province, they'll surely alter it in some way. Obviously, any province they choose will be rich with outlanders, to provide NPC and player setup variety.

I think there were rumors that Summerset will be the setting for TES V. Also, I believe that Skyrim might be a good choice. Hammerfall/High Rock was featured in Daggerfall, so I'd say that both of them are not likely to be used again, just like Morrowind. Two new provinces would be great, especially Valenwood and Elsweyr. But I forsee a lot of design difficulties here which might scare Bethesda away. Black Marsh is a very interesting possibility, since this region is frequently referred to in Morrowind, and can even become a stage for Akaviri invasion (or at least Akaviri presence).

According to rumors in Oblivion, the Nerevarine went on an expedition to Akavir, but has not been heard from since.

In fact there's a poll about this on the main Bethesda forum. I'm sure that there's more than one poll, but here's the most current one:

http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=876624

Results (surprisingly) show that votes mostly concentrate on Skyrim and Summerset Isle, leaving some for "Multiple", Black Marsh and Elsweyr:
High Rock [ 6 ]   [2.49%]
Cyrodiil [ 4 ]   [1.66%]
Hammerfell [ 7 ]   [2.90%]
Skyrim [ 70 ]   [29.05%]
Summerset Isle [ 54 ]   [22.41%]
Morrowind [ 9 ]   [3.73%]
Vallenwood [ 11 ]   [4.56%]
Black Marsh [ 23 ]   [9.54%]
Elsweyr [ 22 ]   [9.13%]
Multiple (Please state which) [ 35 ]   [14.52%]

Valenwood appears to be the least favourite of all places that haven't been covered by TES II, III and IV. Which is also surprising, do people still remember Fargoth?..

Summerset Isle is supposedly the most beautiful place in Tamriel, according to in-game comments from NPCs... but it seems to be it would be less wild. Isn't that the home of the oh-so-civilized high elves? There may be more ancient ruins but fewer wilderness areas to explore, I think. Then again, that seems to be where Bethesda excels. The open-ended-ness of TES games allow for great possibilities of exploring beautiful landscapes... but they're good at filling up the wilderness with caves and ruins to explore, so it might not be as bad a choice as I first thought.

Skyrim is a favorite only because Nords are so popular among players, I think. It also brings on images of majestic mountains, and dark, wild places. Plus there are a lot of people who liked Solstheim and fully expect werewolves to be a mandatory feature of Skyrim. Personally, I fear it would be a bit generic in nature with all the snowy forests and... rocks, lots of rocks. It could be done right but I'd rather see another unusual environment instead.

Really, as long as they continue the same tradition of deep, intense lore and attention to detail (and correct mistakes and oversights of past games) any province they choose could make for a great game.

I agree with that, as i only explore the odd dungeon(I have a vampirephobia but i'm more a wilderness man anyways) but TESV could change all that-also the caves I enter are not challenging, ayelid ruins are too confusing, and fort just spells vampire- It would be cool to see an underground town like the one they have in Australia, in there.
Skyrim would be cool also-but really as long as it has good graphics a good storyline as I loathe the Oblivion MQ(too long and tedious but otherwise a good game), and lots of new unique places. i am sweet! Smiley
I do not want to see another Oblivion I wanna see a new Elder Scrolls game!!!

this is a bit late, but oh well
I reckon that once you get to a certain level in a certain skill, it would be cool if you could create your own guild surrounding that skill or something.

imagine even being able to create your own Boyfriend (or girlfriend)....or is that just getting sad Grin

Kinda.. sorta.
Mind you your own guild would be cool. Leading the Fighters Guild, Mages Guild, Theives Guild and the Light Armor master traing Association Smiley .
Heh. Your own Husband and wife, as long as there wasn't any hot coffee(it's just wrong in gaming) it would be pretty funny. I can Imagine a woman getting together with Ma'iq the Liar or a dude getting together with Umbra. Smiley

hehe...I reckon that you could choose how they look and what race they are and stuff, but you would have to choose from a list of certain names, so it can be scripted in NPC's dialouge*
and you could choose their occupation so they would have something to do during the day like hunter, merchant, skooma dealer etc.
