hey there.
I was thinking about buying a ps3 and fallout3 together coz one of the shops here has a preoder special and apprantley thatt'l continue till mid-november.
Anyways does anyone think it'll be worth raising the money for the ps3 or jus tbuy it for the computer. I have vista with oblivion,coule of small as games and loads of pics-would my computer run fallout3 anyway???

I was thinking that but they are about the same price over here (Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 that is not Ps3 and fallout3). Plus the shop that was selling it had a old ps3 that could play ps2[coz the ps2s stuffed] but I will consider it.

Go to Gamespot, there was an article there recently with a new comparison of how same games look on PS3 and Xbox 360. I'm not a fanboy or anything, but Xbox 360 beats hands down... there's still no AA on PS3, there are lower res textures in some games on PS3, and only thing which PS3 can actually do better (if we believe their screenshots) is displaying darker, more intense colors. Which turns quite bad when it comes to shadows ))

And Fallout 3 screenshots had one more nasty thing on them: no world reflections in the water for PS3. But you can expect this since for Bethesda PCs and Xbox/X360 were a priority since Morrowind times.

Well, it's hard to compare sometimes. I've heard that pretty much all games released on both Xbox 360 and PS3 will look better on Xbox 360 because of the way they are ported and/or processed. On the other hand, PS3 exclusive titles have a much better chance of using the PS3 hardware more effectively and could potentially look much better than a similar exclusive Xbox 360 game.

Artica, There is DLC for PS3... but is there PS3 DLC specifically for Fallout 3? I'm not sure how old Gray Fox's source is or if it's quoted accurately but it's not impossible that DLC would be withheld for this specific game due to financial or technical reasons.


I'd say it all depends on whether you really want a PS3 for any other games. I certainly wouldn't buy a $300-$600US console just to play a game you could play on a system you already have. If your PC can play Oblivion well, you should be able to play Fallout on minimum. They're based on the same engine so the requirements should be similar, though probably a bit higher.

    * 2.4 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 or equivalent processor

Nope. Vista uses an entire GB of RAM just to run by itself. It's one of the many reasons people have been avoiding it.
