How to add a new trap to the game?

I finally finsih an object - Caltrap with texture. But how to let it become a trap? How to let NPC distinguish it?
Need help!!!

Sorry, I thought I replied to this. I must have gotten side-tracked.
Unfortunately, this is another thing I haven't done yet. I'm pretty sure you need to link the trap to an activator, which will set it off.
I think the only way to keep an NPC from activating a trap is by editing the pathgrid. Either show them how to walk around it or make sure the grid doesn't connect at all across it.
I wish I could help you more. Maybe someone else here is into modding and has tried this before.
I'm not familiar with a Caltrap either. Please explain what you mean. Also, did you build it from scratch or is it a retexture or combination from something else already in the game?
