So, what do you think if we'd start kind of Oblivion screenshot contest here? Reward will be special status on forums, and publishing your screenshots on website with your credit Smiley not much, but idea seems interesting even without any rewards.

Screenshots might be divided into several categories (scenery, interior, character, action - for example).

Organisation of the contest might be as simple as that:
1) Members post their screenshots (no more than 3 per each category, less allowed);
2) Everyone votes in polls where all competitors are listed, separate poll for each cat;
3) New poll is created listing all winners, and we decide on the best screenie.

Waiting for your suggestions.

Sounds sweet. The only drawback I can see with this is the fact that some people don't have very good graphics/res due to poor system specs, thus lousy screenies. Appart from that I think it's a great idea =]

I don't own the game yet and cannot check, but is it possible to modify settings temporarily to get a good shot? I remember that using FPS Optimiser helped to do this in Morrowind, probably something like that can be done here too. Even if FPS drops to 1 for a few seconds, that shouldn't be much of a problem.

It's only possible to change major graphics settings (AA, res, vsync) through the launcher, otherwise if you change them in-game you have to restart the game before they take effect. That kinda limits the ability for people with low-end specs to take good screenies while playing on the run.

Alternatively we could judge the screenshots not by graphical prowess, but by creativity and the basis of what the picture is showing, if you know what I mean.

For example

This screenshot is of low graphical quality, but you can see the creativity and how cool it looks anyway.

Is that low? I mean, looks like very very low. Morrowind would have more polygons in a scene like that. Or maybe it's just me.

Yes, system requirements will be a problem here. On higher settings everything should look much better, so those who have better PCs will surely get more votes.

lol thats about as low as it gets; no AA, low res, etc.

My comp is only capable of churning out 1024x768, 2xAA & bloom along with a nicely tweaked ini tuned for performance rather than quality. So my shots won't be of the highest quality by a fair way.

I've got some stashed away though ;]
