So, someone has finally made it. I'm almost sure that it's buggy as hell in its current state, but who knows where it may grow.

The ModDB profile doesn't have many details on how this was done, but seems that it took quite a bit of customization. Wonder what's Bethesda's attitude to such things. If it will get popular, their attention might be attracted as well.

Yes, as far as I know.

Both users have to own a copy of the game and have it installed, so all it does is add new functionality. I don't think it works as well as games that were designed to be online multi-player games, though. It's a good start for anyone interested in such things, though.

Well there's not really anything "Massive" about this multi-player online game mod. I think it currently only supports two people at a time, though they're working on more. You pretty much have to know the person before you can try it out... but I know what you mean.

If they made changes to original game files (not resources, but actual program files, dlls, exe etc) it may be as well illegal. Gaming companies are usually tolerable to such things though. Usually's the key word.

It's legal, uses Oblivion Script Extender and some server thing (Hamachi, I believe). Morrowind had a similar mod, just as buggy.
Anyways, Oblivion Online isn't very good, plus the project is dead, there's another project working well called Oblivion Reborn, which is another online mod, but done much better.
