I'm a bit surprised I haven't spotted this mentioned around here yet. Greg Keyes, writer of three Star Wars books and the Age of Unreason Tetrology, has been chosen by Bethesda to write two Elder Scrolls books. The first is called The Infernal City and should be out this fall. Google can give more details. A lot of game-related sites have picked this up.

What do you think? Will you read them? Heard of this guy? Is he any good?

Personally, I'm curious. I plan to get the first one out of curiousity. It was pretty funny to hear about it, though, due to the amount of in-game reading material. They may not be the same as a full-length novel, but by the time you put together the longer series, suchas A Dance in Fire and up...

I was just looking on his website and he doesn't look like a bad author actually. I think it would either be really really awesome or suck bad. I might also get the first one out of curiosity, judging by the title it sounds like it might be about an Ayleid Ruin so it should be good. Lets wait and see...

I'm guessing that they'll be using these books as a tie-in with the release of TESV. I don't know how fast he writes or when he started but maybe the first book will come out before the game and the second will come slightly after? Dunno. Just wild speculation on my part.

I'm not much of a reader, though, so I doubt I'll get it.

Personally, I just want to see all the reference material they must have provided him about the world of Tamriel that hasn't even been introduced in-game yet. He's just been let in on many big secrets I only wish I knew!

Khajiits, I think it's about a floating city or something. I hope he can make that work. Haha. I also hope you're right about him being good.
DM8954, I didn't think of that. Maybe he will reveal those secrets in the books? (And it would be sweet if TESV is released that soon.)

Well, I figure 3-5 years to make the game (they may or may not have started already) and 1-3 years to write a book... but maybe I'm way off about how long such things take.

I doubt that all secrets will be revealed but I'm sure fans will be able to gain new insight into certain aspects of the world by the details that are revealed.

Actually, I believe I saw that the book will be out this fall, but I could be thinking of something else. I don't see how they do mthings like this with a deadline. I hope the quality doesn't suffer. (That's what I'm really afraid of, overall. Mistakes like that have been made before, by other companies.)

And they suffer bad...

But has it occured to anyone that they could of already finished or be close to finishing the book, yet only just announced it. That is probably highly likely, because Bethesda are probably halfway through their next TES game (maybe) yet they haven't announced anything about it yet.
