According to Bethesda, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion sold more than 1,7 million copies worldwide, both PC and Xbox 360 versions, in 20 days since it was released. If you are familiar with game selling statistics, you should realize that it is an enormous success that few games ever achieved. If you are not, believe me, it is. Complete press release available from here.

Pricing for The Orrery, a new quest addon scheduled for release next week, was announced not long ago. The modification will cost $1,89 for PC and about $1,88 (150 marketplace points) for Xbox 360, which is really good news, as many were afraid that the new content-rich official addons will cost more than horse armor.

I'm glad for the pc rpg gaming industry since successes like this should lead to more and better quality rpgs in the future.
I do hope, however, that Bethesda gives credit to the community by fixing the shortcomings of the game soon. And I'm mainly talking about removing bugs and giving us a decent interface for the pc version. Gameplay issues are naturally a more subjective topic.

That's a nice amount of sold games there.. wonder how much they've profited already? lol. I'm just wondering if Bethesda have already started on their next installment in TES series, since they started making Oblivion shortly after Morrowind's release..

If we might speculate about the next installment, only thing we know for sure is that it will be singleplayer. As for province of Tamriel where it will take place, well:

Arena featured many regions from all Tamriel, as far as I know;
Daggerfall had parts of two provinces (High Rock and Hammerfell);
Morrowind had part of a province (Vvardenfell);
Oblivion has one province once again (Cyrodiil);
If I were Bethesda  Smiley I'd continue this list with making a game with two or more nearby provinces (not in parts, but in whole). Say, Elsweyr and Valenwood, or High Rock and Skyrim and Hammerfel. Might even be that one province will be added in some kind of expansion for Oblivion. Why not?
