Rubys, Diamonds, Pearls???

What are all these flawed and flawless diamonds and emeralds and pearls and stuff for? just selling or some kinda craft?
someone enlighten me please.

Basically they are just random loot, so you can sell 'em or keep 'em to make your house look nice. I'll use diamonds as an example
Flawed Diamond = Meh It'll be a pain as they don't look as nice as the Diamond and the flawless and the base price 25, so you could drop it or sell it.
Diamond = looks nicer than the Flawed and easier to come across than the flawless, the base price is 50, so I either keep them or sell 'em.
Flawless Diamond = They look shiny and can hurt your eyes with too much HDR, personally I keep mine for decoration, but the base price IS 100 gold.

This is just my opinion though.

Hmmm, well that seems kinda lame that you can only sell them, they aren't worth too much. oh well thanks

There might be some mods out there that make them more useful but I haven't looked for them yet.

I also think that their value seems a bit low. It seems like they should be worth a little more than that. I'm sure list-modifying and economy-changing mods (like, OOO?) would likely change the value of such items.

In the regular game, though, they're just ordinary clutter like a clay vase or a pick-axe.

I dont THINK this is in a mod only, but it might be. In the lobby of the arcane university, on a desk, there is a book titled "report on ayelid geomancy", and when you read it, you can cast spells that take a gem (the flawed give you level 1, regular 2, and flawless 3).
