All right - I read about this in a guide, did it myself - and now I have the most useful non-combat item in my own opinion! The Skeleton Key!

Once you have the quest "Blood of the Daedra" and have Azura Shrine on your map, you can find new shrines. This one is easily found by talking to Alves Uvenim in Leyawiin Mages Guild. Talk to her about Daedric Shrines. She will tell you the location of the Shrine of Nocturnal. Visit the shrine (make sure to be lvl 10 first), activate it, and you will learn, that you have to track down some Argonian thieves in Leyawiin, who have stolen the Eye. I won't spoil anything else, as I am just supposed to make you do the quest- not tell you about it.

The quest is not that hard, there is a dungeon you have to visit with some trolls and mountain lions, but nothing I couldn't handle (means that a noob could handle it).

The reward on the other hand is the Skeleton Key, which is an unbreakable lockpick, which adds 40 to your security skill! Thus - no locks can't be picked (at least those who do not requite a key)! You have unlimited attempts to open the lock, and it is very useful! Now you don't need to buy lockpicks from Sam or anything - it's all in that single pick  Wink

But don't you have to offer a black soul gem to the shrine? Where did you get one?

No you don't. The shrine is "free". Unlike shrines such as Shrine of Azura where you need glowing dust or Mephala, where you need Nightshade.

The Nocturnal shrine only requires you to be level 10

Oh, I must have misunderstood something then. Thanks.  Smiley

Just turned level 10 yesterday, unfortunately I can't play until thursday, but then I'll go get it!

It's highly recommendable. No locks are closed for me!

Yep, the daedric shrines have some of the best loot in the game
I would also reccommened you do Namira's quest which is a level 5 quest and gives Namira's ring which has reflect damage and magicka enchantments, and best of all the quest requires no fighting! (well someone does the fighting for you)

Peryite (level 10) gives you a spell breaker shield with strong resist magicka enchantments

Meridia (level 10) gives ring of the khajiiti (anyone can wear it though) which has chameleon and speed enchantments.

Glad to help, and to aid Mette -

I have found 4 artifacts so far, but spellbreaker and the Ring of Namira are next on my list.

I did Boethia's quest as well. It is fun for a combat character as me, and the reward is quite good. The Goldbrand is the best blade I have seen - after the Umbra of course. Fire damage bonus can be very useful! And on that quest I got my daedric armour pieces (you have to be lvl 20+)

I did Mephala's as well, just for the Ebony Blade, but it's definately not one of the best Daedric Artifacts!

Thank you Sunny, nice map!
I got the Spellbreaker yesterday, what a cool looking shield. Grin
Not sure I'll do Mephala's quest. It's mean.

A little off topic but, why does your map appear in colors? Mine is allways light brown...

I found it here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Daedric_Shrines_Map (my favourite Oblivion source site)

To Mette, I am glad to be able to help. What material is the Spellbreaker, does it look cool? I am getting it tomorrow!

To Kasib, yes you can. That blade sucks - I just sold it. And Mephala's quest is not cruel - it's just some stupid Nords and Dunmers. It was fun to watch the three survivors battle each other in the end. The Dunmers won!  Shocked

The Spellbreaker is the coolest looking shield in the game in my opinion. Don't know about the material, I think the model is unique.

I'd get it all now.. but I'm pretty sure it will be leveled, so I'm holding off...
I dont what to make the mistake on my old char and get a lousy 11% reflect damage ring from Namira...

I have a major problem with one of my daedric quests:

You know the one with Sanguine, where you have to cast that clothes-removing spell on the countesss during a dinner party? Well the guard in my game is on the wrong side of the door (the guard being the guy who lets you into the party)  Angry Maybe I am doing something wrong, maybe I am not, but it is driving me insane! (This is the second time today where my game has had a weird glitch!)

I had this glith as well. I opened the console and typed tcl to toggle clipping, went through the door, opened the console again, selected the guard, typed tcl again to toggle clipping on the guard, then he walked out the door. After that I typed tcl yet again to turn on clipping for the guard again, went out the door and finally typed tcl to turn on clipping for myself.

Most fantasy games allow only one ring per hand.

In the lore, having 2 rings in the same hand cancel out the magical effects.

Thats why I dont wanna use that mod; theres gotta be a limit, hehe!
