I know you usually need sigil stones to enchant armour and weapons, but I have completed the main quest and there is no more oblivion gates left to get them from. Is it impossible for me to enchant my own weapons now? If not how do I do it?

1st the only way to enchant your items is the altar of enchanting in the Arcane University.   You don't need Sigil stones to do it, those I believe are used to do it straight from the inventory.  To enchant items at he Arcane University you need to have filled Soul Gems.  The bigger the better.  Anything with constant affects takes more.  Not to mention you need a ton of gold to do all types of enchanting at the Arcane University.  Try just equipping the Sigil Stones and enchanting your items directly through your inventory.

Bah - it's much easier to find enchanted weapons. lol - but yeah - the Arcane University is the way to do it. You can also read more about it in the manual I am sure Wink

Here is all the info you will need:

Petty - 150
Lesser - 300
Common - 800
Greater - 1200
Grand - 1600
Black - same as Grand and Azura's Star - 1600

Petty Souls (150)
Stunted Scamp, Mud Crab, Rat

Lesser Souls (300)
Scamp, Clanfear Runt, Skeleton Guardian, Ghost, Boar, Wolf, Zombie, Troll

Common Souls (800)
Flame Atronach, Black Bear, Mountain Lion, Headless Zombie, Ancient Ghost, Faded Wraith, Skeleton Hero, Spriggan, Minotaur, Will-o-wisp

Greater Souls (1200)
Dremora Spider, Skeleton Hero, Clannfear, Fire Atronach, Deranged Zombie, Brown Bear, Daedroth

Grand Souls (1600)
Kalperklan Troll, Xivilai, Minotaur Lord, Gloom Wraith, Undead Akaviri Soldier

Souls above Grand (1600)
NPC's, True Daedra and Dremora, must have a Black Soul Gem to trap.

Here is info on Azura's Star

Speak to Mels Maryon (one of the people at the shrine) and raise his disposition to 50. He'll tell you that you need to provide Azure with an offering of Glow Dust.
Wander around, find a Will-o-the-Wisp (yellow cloud creature), kill it, then loot the glow dust. Alternatively, you can buy some in your favorite ingredient shop.
Talk to the shrine (you must be at least level 2) between 5 - 7 am or pm (dawn or dusk).
Azura will tell you to kill the five vampires in the Gutted Mine just over the mountain to the southwest.
Go there, kill the vampires and return to the shrine.
Azura will reward you with Azura's Star, an unlimited-use Grand Soul Gem.

By the way.. if you dont want to play through the game until the location is revealed to you, just go directly north of Cheydinhal.  You will see the lake on your map.  It is directly north of that lake.

Hope that helps.. Nathan (lvl 45)

By the way, I got my info from http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Enchanting
