u dont really get good items in quests only if you decide to not finish them. u  just get gold u should try exploring aylied ruins you find alyied items there they are  pretty good if that helps

what are some good quests for items

Daedric quests give some pretty useful items for the most part.  For example:

- Azura's Shrine:  help out the goddess and get Azura's Star (a reusable grand soul gem)

- Nocturnal's Shrine: help him/her out and get the Skeleton Key (unbreakable lockpick with +30 fortify Security enchantment

- Clavicus Vile:  help this bastard out and get either the Sword of Umbra (two-handed soul trapping sword) or the Masque of Clavicus Vile (forify Personality)

- Namira's Shrine:  help this god and get a nice enchanted ring.

-  other shrines give you a nice war hammer (Malacath), the sword "Goldbrand" (awesome damage plus fire damage, a staff that morphs your target, a cuirass (Hircine), etc.

Some good non-daedric quests would be the ship on the docks that's an inn: Sleep, get jumped by pirates and get a nice sword.  Solve the mystery of the Copius Coinpurse (see Jansine in the Market District).  Help reuite two brothers (go to Chorral and ask about rumors), solve the puzzle and help them out, wait awhile, get more rumors, check out the shady character at the inn in Chorral and retrieve his item to get a nice sword or even more awesome shield.  

Most of the Dark Brotherhood early quests have bonuses that give you some decent items.

Help out the fisherman west of the main gate to the Imperial city (cross the long bridge and there's an inn there and a fisherman's house).  Kill the slaughterfish and get a nice ring of waterbreathing plus forify agility.

To find nice rings and such I just like to go into caves and such and clear them out.  Once found a ring that gave 100% protection from disease, paralyze and something else.  Also found a ring that gave me +25 to Hand to Hand and reflected 35% damage!  These are all random items so you never know what to expect.  For example, I just started a new game (level 5 now) and I've already found boots of water walking, a helmet of water breathing, a couple decent rings and amulet, etc.  Used the boots to kill the Rumare slaughterfish without taking any damage whatsoever!

if you are looking for some good items, try the dark brotherhood quest line, if you do each contract well,, you can get nice bonus items,,   Guess being bad can be good,,,,,,,,
