Oblivion will ship without Construction Set

More surprising news from Bethesda: contrary to expectations of most modders, PC version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will ship without TES Construction Set included. Exact reasons for this decision remain unknown, though many suggest that there was not enough space for CS on Oblivion DVD disk. Instead, Bethesda promised to release Construction Set for free download on the official elderscrolls.com website. CS will become available shortly before the game itself, which is scheduled to ship on March 20.

Countless interviews and previews about Oblivion were recently posted on different gaming websites. Full list of those interviews is available on elderscrolls.com pages. Don't forget that only two weeks remain until the release date... and don't forget to visit Cyrodiil Chronicles often!

Ouch. You DID scared me with that. I was like "WHAT THE HELL???". Good thing they're releasing it freely, tho. I wonder if it'll ship with the CE?

The Collector's Edition will not ship with the Construction Set either, just the game disc and the "Making of" disc. As far as I know anyway.

I guess that disk with the game itself will be the same for each version... or different only in picture printed on the top side.

Though maybe I'm mistaken, never was a frequent buyer of collector's editions.

Anyway, I hope that TES CS won't be too huge for download... not everyone has fast network, unfortunately, so releasing a 200 Mb file for CS will have some modders disappointed. But as long as Morrowind CS was much smaller, let's hope for the best.

There will also be a 'Guide to Tamriel' in the collector's box, as well as a Septim coin (which apparently looked pretty neat). There's a map of the Imperial Province in both versions (yay to maps!), and the collector's box will also ship in a niftier case. All in all, collector's version looks nice IMHO, not sure if I'm going to buy that, largely depends on whether it'll be in normal retail in Europe.

Construction set or not, Oblivion will be mine the minute it gets delivered to my doorstep... just wonder how many jealous, agonizing days Australia has to wait until its released here after the initial day of release in the U.S. =[
