Am I on the right track?

I found my way to Kvatch and through the Oblivion Gate to the tower, so that seems to be going ok, as far as finding my way that is.
However, Martin will not leave the Chapel unless he knows it is safe to do so and he hints at getting help from a Camp outside of Kvatch, thats the one I am stuck on, I'm not sure where the camp is, I found one on the map, I believe it was Darby's Camp but when I arrived the two NPCs there were hostile.
Is anyone able to direct me please?

Is this the main quest line? I think I am on the right track, I had to go bring the Amulet to someone, and then proceed to Kvatch. Is that what I am supposed to be doing.
I've heard of some people with their mounts already, and I'm not sure how that could happen so early on.
I am only lev 2.
I noticed that to level up you need to sleep so I went all the way back to the main city, only to realize later that I could have entered a nearby tent and slept there on the ground.

Sounds like you did what I did. Seems you have to pass through Oblivion's gate, the fire gate, and not walk further to where the cursor says Kvatch gate. If you walk further to open Kvatch gate, you find the church and can talk to Martin where he says he won't leave.
Go back outside the gate and stop when your cursor says gate to oblivion...then you'll see the tower and stuff that you need to beat to seal the gate.
I feel silly, but I did the same thing!

Ok now I understand I thought there were two different quests involved here but the Tower that is in the Oblivion Gate is connected with the "Camp outside of Kvatch" thing.
