I became a vampire in oblivion (about 3 hours into the game), and other than the dreams and an occasional vampire power poping up, I had received no adverse effects.  By the time I reached 19 hours gameplay, I can no longer walk in the sunlight, and most NPC's don't like me very much.  I can however drink blood once a night (victim has to be sleeping, and they do not die), and I can again walk in the sunlight and people no longer see me as evil.  So basically, I have some super abilities, and all I have to do is drink blood once a night to no negative effects.  The quest for curing yourself of vampirism is also VERY easy to find.  It is in my opinion a little bit of power-play cheese that the folks at TES added to oblivion, and I for one hope that it will be remedied at a later patch.

I became a vampire, wasnt much of my thing. The quest to cure yourself is far too easy, I dont think it should be nearly impossible, but at least somewhat difficult.

Hmm...where do you become a vampire in the first place?  I haven't encountered anything of the sort.

Fighting vampires will give you a small chance to become one, and *Spoiler* If you advance in the dark brotherhood enough, you will be given the opportunity

Being a vampire isn't as good as you might think. The skills are pretty useless, even at the higher levels of vamprism. The cure for vamprism can be hard, if you are expelled from the mages guild. There are many caves that have vampires. Yes, a member of the Dark Brotherhood (Vincente Sumthing) can turn u into a vampire. Oh, and the way to be not hurt by the sun is feed on someone and then never sleep unless needed. Because the lowest level of vampire won't get hurt by the sun.
